The Marlin Brando is a recreational fishing boat based in Cairns, Australia. This site is a log of its voyages to catch some of the biggest and best fighting fish in Australia. Cairns is located in Far North Queensland right next to the Great Barrier Reef. The reef near Cairns is home to some of the biggest Black Marlin in the world. Every year people come from around the world to try their luck to catch one and if at all possible that magical "Grander" or 1000 pound Marlin.
Being only a small boat and often the best day of fishing is during the week when the deck hands are at work, the Marlin Brando is often taken out solo. But when the timing is right a variety of people join in onboard to test their luck against some of the biggest fishes in the world!
The boat has been set up with a clear path the entire way around so even with the outriggers up you can walk around the entire boat unhindered to chase down running fish from the front or the back
Because the boat is run for fun and has no sponsors/commerical support the gear used isn't the latest and greatest and in some cases second hand. A lot of the people who come on board are first timers or beginners at any sort of fishing so mistakes are made and lessons are learnt.
